Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using Pickle Leagues ("Service"), you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provision of this agreement. If you do not agree to these Terms of Service, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

2.1 Overview

Pickle Leagues provides a web-based platform for managing pickleball leagues, including player standings, game scheduling, score tracking, league administration, coaching services, a marketplace for sports gear, video analysis, messaging, and community features. The Service is available on a subscription basis with both free and paid tiers.

2.2 Progressive Web Application (PWA)

The Service is delivered as a Progressive Web Application (PWA) and may be installed on your mobile device or desktop as an app-like experience. The PWA relies on your device's web browser engine and an active internet connection for full functionality. Features such as push notifications, offline caching, and home screen installation depend on your device and browser capabilities. We do not guarantee that all PWA features will function identically across all devices, operating systems, or browsers. The Service is not distributed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and is not a native mobile application.

3. User Accounts

3.1 Registration

To access certain features of the Service, you must create an account by providing accurate and complete information. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.

3.2 Account Security

You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account or any other breach of security.

3.3 Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms of Service or engage in fraudulent, abusive, or illegal activity.

4. Subscription Plans and Billing

4.1 Free Tier

The free tier allows you to create and manage one league at no cost. This tier is provided "as-is" and may be modified or discontinued at any time.

4.2 Paid Subscriptions

Paid subscription plans include:

• Organizer Plus ($24.99/month CAD): Includes up to 3 leagues and organizer workflows
• Community Pro ($49.99/month CAD): Includes up to 8 leagues and advanced community operations
• Additional Experience ($9.99/month CAD): Charged for leagues and ladders above plan caps
• Player Pro ($12.99/month CAD): Includes premium player profile features and AI-related insights

Tournament Pricing: Tournament creation is billed separately at $9.99 per tournament. Service fees are only charged to participants when they register for paid events. All prices in CAD. Taxes may apply.

In-App Registration: Registrations for free and paid leagues, ladders, tournaments, and programs are handled natively in PickleLeagues. Applicable fees and totals are shown before payment, and cancellation/refund policy text is shown on registration surfaces.

4.3 Automatic Renewal

All paid subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless canceled before the renewal date. You authorize us to charge your payment method for the renewal amount.

4.4 Payment Processing

All payments are processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your credit card information. By subscribing, you agree to Stripe's terms and conditions.

4.5 Price Changes

We may change subscription prices with at least 30 days' notice. Price changes will apply to subsequent billing periods after the notice period.

5. Cancellations and Refunds

5.1 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings or the billing portal. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period. You will retain access to paid features until the end of the paid period.

5.2 Refund Policy

We offer a 7-day money-back guarantee on all new subscriptions. If you cancel within 7 days of your initial purchase, you will receive a full refund. Refunds after the 7-day period are at our sole discretion.

5.3 Downgrading

If you exceed your league limit after downgrading or canceling, you may be required to delete leagues to comply with your new tier limits.

6. User Content and Data

6.1 Your Content

You retain all ownership rights to content you create through the Service (league names, player information, game scores, etc.). By using the Service, you grant us a license to host, store, and display your content as necessary to provide the Service.

6.2 Data Backup

While we perform regular backups, you are responsible for maintaining your own copies of important data. We are not liable for any data loss.

6.3 Public vs. Private Leagues

Public leagues are visible to anyone on the internet. Private leagues are only accessible to you and players you add. You are responsible for choosing the appropriate privacy setting for your leagues.

6.4 Prohibited Content

You may not upload or create content that is illegal, offensive, harassing, discriminatory, or violates the rights of others.

7. Marketplace

7.1 Overview

The Pickle Leagues Marketplace allows users to list, buy, and sell used sports gear and equipment. The Marketplace is provided as a convenience to our users to facilitate peer-to-peer transactions.

7.2 Platform Role

Pickle Leagues acts solely as a venue for users to connect regarding the sale and purchase of goods. Pickle Leagues is NOT a party to any transaction between buyers and sellers. We do not own, possess, inspect, or control any items listed on the Marketplace. All transactions are conducted directly between users.

7.3 No Liability for Transactions

Pickle Leagues is not responsible or liable for:

• The quality, safety, legality, or authenticity of any listed item
• The accuracy of any listing description, photos, or pricing
• The ability of sellers to complete a sale or deliver items
• The ability of buyers to pay for items
• Any disputes between buyers and sellers, including issues related to delivery, condition, returns, or refunds

7.4 Communication

All buyer-seller communication regarding Marketplace transactions must occur through the platform's built-in messaging system. This requirement exists to protect both parties and to provide a record of communications in the event of a dispute.

7.5 Prohibited Items

The following items may not be listed on the Marketplace:

• Weapons, firearms, ammunition, or explosives
• Illegal drugs, controlled substances, or drug paraphernalia
• Counterfeit, replica, or knockoff goods
• Stolen property
• Items that infringe on intellectual property rights
• Hazardous materials
• Any items prohibited by applicable law

7.6 Listing Removal

Pickle Leagues reserves the right to remove any Marketplace listing at its sole discretion, at any time, and for any reason, including but not limited to violations of these Terms, reports from other users, or content deemed inappropriate. Users whose listings are removed will be notified but are not entitled to an explanation or appeal.

8. Coaching Services

8.1 Coach Profiles and Listings

Pickle Leagues allows qualified pickleball coaches to create profiles and offer coaching services through the platform. Coaches are solely responsible for the accuracy of their profile information, credentials, certifications, and qualifications.

8.2 Independent Contractors

Pickle Leagues is NOT the employer of any coach listed on the platform. Coaches are independent service providers. Pickle Leagues does not control, direct, or supervise the coaching services provided. The relationship between a coach and a client is solely between those parties.

8.3 Booking and Scheduling

The platform provides a booking system to facilitate scheduling between coaches and clients. Booking confirmations, session details, and scheduling are managed through the platform. Users acknowledge that availability shown on the platform is subject to change.

8.4 Cancellation Policy

Each coach sets their own cancellation policy, which is displayed on their profile. It is your responsibility to review and understand a coach's cancellation policy before booking a session. Pickle Leagues is not responsible for enforcing individual coach cancellation policies or resolving cancellation disputes.

8.5 Reviews and Ratings

Users may leave reviews and ratings for coaches they have booked sessions with. All reviews must be:

• Based on genuine personal experience with the coach
• Honest and accurate
• Free from defamatory, abusive, or discriminatory language
• Not used as a means to harass, threaten, or intimidate

Pickle Leagues reserves the right to remove reviews that violate these guidelines. Coaches may respond to reviews publicly but may not retaliate against reviewers.

8.6 Liability

Pickle Leagues is not liable for the quality, safety, or outcome of any coaching session. Users participate in coaching sessions at their own risk and should consult a physician before engaging in physical activity.

9. Messaging

9.1 Platform Messaging

Pickle Leagues provides an in-platform messaging system for users to communicate with one another, including for Marketplace transactions, coaching inquiries, and general communication.

9.2 Acceptable Use

When using the messaging system, you agree not to:

• Send spam, unsolicited commercial messages, or bulk messages
• Harass, threaten, bully, or intimidate other users
• Send sexually explicit, violent, or otherwise offensive content
• Impersonate another user or misrepresent your identity
• Share personal information of other users without their consent
• Use messaging to conduct transactions outside the platform
• Distribute malware, phishing links, or fraudulent content

9.3 Monitoring and Safety

Pickle Leagues reserves the right to monitor, review, and analyze messages transmitted through the platform for the purposes of safety, security, fraud prevention, and enforcement of these Terms. While we do not routinely read private messages, we may do so in response to user reports, suspected violations, or as required by law.

9.4 Message Retention

Messages sent through the platform may be retained by Pickle Leagues for a reasonable period for operational, legal, and safety purposes, even after account deletion. We may be required to disclose message content pursuant to legal process or law enforcement requests.

10. Push Notifications

10.1 Notification Services

Pickle Leagues may send push notifications to your device to alert you about league updates, game schedules, scores, messages, marketplace activity, coaching bookings, and other Service-related information.

10.2 Opt-In and Opt-Out

Push notifications require your explicit opt-in consent. You may enable or disable push notifications at any time through your account settings or your device's notification settings. Disabling push notifications may affect your ability to receive timely updates about league activities, messages, and other Service features.

10.3 Notification Preferences

You may customize which types of notifications you receive through your account notification preferences. Certain critical notifications related to account security, billing, and Terms of Service changes may not be disabled.

11. Blog and Newsletter

11.1 Coach Blog Contributors

Qualified coaches on the platform may contribute blog posts and articles. Blog content contributed by coaches represents the views and opinions of the individual author and does not necessarily reflect the views of Pickle Leagues. Coaches are solely responsible for the accuracy and legality of their blog content.

11.2 Content Moderation

Pickle Leagues reserves the right to review, edit, or remove any blog content at its sole discretion. Blog posts must comply with our content guidelines and may not contain:

• False or misleading health or medical claims
• Defamatory or libelous statements
• Content that infringes on intellectual property rights
• Spam, excessive self-promotion, or undisclosed advertising
• Offensive, discriminatory, or hateful content

11.3 Newsletter Subscription

By subscribing to the Pickle Leagues newsletter, you consent to receive periodic emails containing platform updates, league news, promotional content, and community highlights. You may unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time by clicking the "unsubscribe" link included in every newsletter email or by updating your account preferences. Unsubscribing from the newsletter does not affect your account or access to the Service.

11.4 Content License

By contributing blog content to the platform, authors grant Pickle Leagues a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to publish, display, distribute, and promote the content through the Service, newsletters, and social media channels. Authors retain ownership of their original content.

12. Video Analysis

12.1 Service Description

Pickle Leagues offers video analysis features powered by the PB Vision API, a third-party service. Video analysis provides automated game analysis, shot tracking, and performance metrics based on uploaded game footage.

12.2 Third-Party Service

The video analysis functionality is provided by PB Vision, a third-party service provider. Pickle Leagues does not own, operate, or control the PB Vision API. By using video analysis features, you also agree to any applicable terms and conditions of PB Vision.

12.3 No Guarantee of Accuracy

Video analysis results, including shot detection, scoring, player tracking, and performance metrics, are generated by automated algorithms and are provided for informational and entertainment purposes only. Pickle Leagues makes no guarantee regarding the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of video analysis results. Analysis results should not be used as the sole basis for competitive decisions, player rankings, or dispute resolution.

12.4 Pricing

Video analysis is available on a per-game basis at a price of $8.99 per game analyzed. Pricing is subject to change with notice. Payment for video analysis is non-refundable once processing has begun.

12.5 Video Storage

Uploaded videos are stored on our servers for the purpose of analysis and playback. Pickle Leagues reserves the right to set limits on video file size, format, and retention period. Videos may be deleted after a specified retention period, and users are responsible for maintaining their own copies of uploaded video files. We are not liable for any loss of uploaded video content.

13. DUPR Integration

13.1 Third-Party Service

Pickle Leagues offers integration with DUPR (Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating), a third-party rating service. DUPR is independently owned and operated and is not affiliated with Pickle Leagues. By linking your DUPR account, you agree to DUPR's own terms of service and privacy policy.

13.2 Data Accuracy Disclaimer

DUPR ratings and data displayed within Pickle Leagues are retrieved from the DUPR service and are presented as-is. Pickle Leagues makes no representations or warranties regarding the accuracy, timeliness, or completeness of DUPR data. Discrepancies between DUPR data shown on our platform and the official DUPR platform should be resolved directly with DUPR.

13.3 Linking and Unlinking

You may link your DUPR account to your Pickle Leagues profile through the integration settings. You may unlink your DUPR account at any time, which will remove DUPR data from your Pickle Leagues profile. Unlinking does not affect your DUPR account or rating. Pickle Leagues is not responsible for any changes to your DUPR rating or account resulting from data shared through the integration.

14. Image Uploads

14.1 Permitted Use

Users may upload images for use in league profiles, player profiles, marketplace listings, coach profiles, and other features of the Service. You represent and warrant that you own or have the necessary rights and permissions to upload any image.

14.2 Acceptable Content

Uploaded images must not contain:

• Sexually explicit or pornographic material
• Violent, graphic, or disturbing imagery
• Hateful, discriminatory, or offensive symbols or content
• Content that infringes on the intellectual property or privacy rights of others
• Spam, advertising, or promotional material unrelated to the Service

14.3 Size and Format Limits

Pickle Leagues may impose limits on image file size, dimensions, and supported formats. Images exceeding these limits may be automatically resized, compressed, or rejected. Current limits are displayed at the point of upload.

14.4 Removal Rights

Pickle Leagues reserves the right to remove any uploaded image at its sole discretion, without prior notice, if the image is deemed inappropriate, violates these Terms, or is the subject of a complaint. Repeated violations may result in account suspension or termination.

15. Sponsors and Advertising

15.1 Sponsor Content

Pickle Leagues may display sponsor logos, banners, advertisements, and promotional content from third-party sponsors and advertising partners throughout the Service. Sponsor content is clearly identified and does not constitute an endorsement by Pickle Leagues of the sponsor's products or services.

15.2 User Interaction Tracking

Pickle Leagues may track and collect anonymized data regarding user interactions with sponsor content, including impressions, clicks, and engagement metrics. This data is used to improve the relevance of advertising, fulfill obligations to sponsors, and support the continued operation of the Service. Personal data is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

15.3 Third-Party Links

Sponsor content may include links to external websites or services. Pickle Leagues is not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of any third-party websites. Your use of third-party websites is at your own risk and subject to those websites' terms and conditions.

16. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any illegal purpose or in violation of any laws
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other users' accounts
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
• Use automated scripts or bots to access the Service
• Resell or redistribute the Service without authorization
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any aspect of the Service
• Upload malicious code, viruses, or harmful content
• Impersonate others or provide false information

17. Intellectual Property

17.1 Our Rights

The Service, including all software, design, text, graphics, and other content, is owned by Pickle Leagues and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

17.2 Trademarks

"Pickle Leagues" and associated logos are our trademarks. You may not use our trademarks without prior written permission.

17.3 Feedback

If you provide feedback or suggestions about the Service, we may use them without any obligation to you.

18. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

18.1 "AS-IS" Service

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

18.2 Service Availability

We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. We may suspend or discontinue the Service at any time for maintenance or other reasons.

18.3 Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PICKLE LEAGUES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES.

18.4 Liability Cap

Our total liability to you for any claims arising from your use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

18.5 Third-Party Services

Pickle Leagues integrates with third-party services including but not limited to Stripe, DUPR, and PB Vision. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or reliability of any third-party service. Your use of third-party services is subject to their respective terms and conditions.

19. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Pickle Leagues, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of others.

20. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through the Service. Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.

21. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

21.1 Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

21.2 Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in court for intellectual property disputes.

21.3 Class Action Waiver

You agree to resolve disputes on an individual basis and waive any right to participate in class action lawsuits or class-wide arbitration.

22. Miscellaneous

22.1 Entire Agreement

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Pickle Leagues regarding the Service.

22.2 Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full effect.

22.3 Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of those rights.

22.4 Assignment

You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms without restriction.
